Clinical Chemistry

چکیده

Henry has written an excellent 1200 page book on the technical aspects of clinical chemistry. Of these pages, 18 are devoted to the bibliography and 22 to the index. An attempt was made (with some degree of success) to describe principles as well as technics. Included are many useful pieces of information regarding selection of methods, notes and details required for successful performance, sources of error, limits and accuracy, and normal values. This information is flavored with Henry's personal experience. The book provides more necessary information on technical matters than similar books in the field, has a wide scope, is more up to date, and concerns itself with new trends in clinical chemistry. Minor criticisms such as use of the nonword "quantitation," paying most attention to methods used or published from Dr. Henry's laboratories (BioScience) and varying degrees of emphasis of certain topics are hardly worth mentioning. Clinical chemists, pathologists, research workers, technologists, veterinarians and others who measure compounds or wish to understand analytical measurements in tissues and biological fluids of man or other living things should have ready access to this book.

Phytochemical investigation of a dichloromethane-methanol (1:1) extract of the fruit pericarp of Omphalocarpum procerum which exhibited antiplasmodial activity during preliminary screening led to the isolation of the new fatty ester triterpenoid 3β-hexadecanoyloxy-28-hydroxyolean-12-en-11-one (1), together with five known compounds 2-6. The structure of the new compound as well as those of the ...
